Abstract:
GaoFen-3 (GF3) is the first Chinese civilian high-resolution C-band SAR satellite constellation. While the first GF3 satellite was mainly designed for marine science, now with the constellation in operation mode, InSAR applications will become essential to the GF3’s daily missions. Hence, it would be significant to evaluate the capability of GF3 in doing multi-temporal InSAR (MTInSAR). In this talk, we demonstrate GF’s excellent InSAR and MTInSAR capability. An MTInSAR process was carried out using a GF3 stack over the Beijing area. Using Sentinel-1 as the benchmark, we see 25 times boost in point density of the persistent scatterers (PS), and around 2mm/year accuracy in estimated point velocities. The research demonstrated excellent MTInSAR performance for GF3, revealing great potential for future applications using GF3 constellation.
